Ways to burn more calories per day if you find exercise is a chore

Picture
There is nothing worse than trying to stick to an exercise plan that you don’t enjoy.  If you don’t love the gym, or hate running there are many daily activities that can boost your calorie burn.  Here are a few easy ways to burn more calories everyday.

When you get up you could do some simple yoga exercises like the sun salutations to wake you up in the morning.  This will also help you to feel energised and focused for the day.
  • Take the dog (or your friend’s dog) out for a walk.
  • Walk, or cycle the kids to school.
  • Walk instead of taking the bus or tube, or if the journey is too far walk for some of the distance by getting on and off 1-2 stops earlier.
  • Cycle to work, its good for the environment.
  • Take the stairs where ever you can during your working day.  Walk up escalators.
  • Sit on an exercise ball instead of a chair, this will improve your posture and strengthens the core and helps relieve back pain.
  • At lunchtime head out of the office and take a walk which will help to burn calories and also relieve stress on the day.
  • You could wear a pedometer to see if you can reach 7500 to 10000 steps which is seen as being ‘active’.
  • Try doing more of the daily household chores like hovering, dusting, washing the dishes and hanging out the washing.
  • Wash your own car.
  • Do some gardening, mow the lawn.
  • Wash the windows.
  • Play Frisbee with friends, or the dog.
  • Kick around the football.
  • Do some skipping.
  • Get up and switch over the TV – hide the remote control.
  • Walk to the shops regularly.
  • Stand up while you are on the phone.
  • Have sex.
